Makan Makan In March

Sekarang tengah hot people were talking about burger bakar kat wangsa maju.....ramai orang beratur berjam-jam nak beli burger ni. Katanya latest dah buka cawangan kat Dagang Avenue , hei! that's near my studio.....Adalah jugak tengok gambar burger tower sampai 9 patties & what nots. Hmmmm........boleh jugak kalau nak cuba , tapi not now lah kot , tunggu lah biar reda dari the 'instant fame' they gained sejak keluar JJCM. Katanya since the TV show , the outlet lagi busy.....I don't think MP has the patience to wait in line for hours just to eat burgers....hohoho! Tak berani I ajak dia.

I'm sticking to Mustafa Jones burger. Thick & huge homemade minced beef burger grilled to perfection. I got to know about Mustaffa Jones grilled burger last year. Masa tu they were operating kat area AU5 - Taman Wangsa Melawati , warung kecil kat tepi jalan je. Yna like hers with cheese and I like mine plain.

That's Chef Mustafa Jones in action masa kat AU5 dulu. I've never spoken to Chef Mustafa Jones but I think Chef MJ started the burger bakar thingy first around the Hulu Kelang area.....through word-of-mouth and loyal customers whom supported Mustafa Jones Burgers , the business grew and caught the eyes of burger entrepreneurs to duplicate the homemade grilled burger or burger bakar idea and make it their own. Sad I would say.

At present Mustafa Jones Burger is operating in Taman Melawati. Kat Restaurant Kayu Manis , belakang Sakura Kristal / Malaysian Institute of Arts , Pusat Bandar Melawati. I'm a rib lover *especially those at Tony Roma's* and yet to try the ribs at Mustafa Jones Burger :-) *Pic above , delicious potato salad*

Haaa....ni bukan Mustafa Jones Burger but it's Megathon Burger from German Deli Imbiss at Petronas Ampang Jaya / belakang Hospital Ampang Puteri.

It's huge with 500 grams of beef patty! Sebesar salad plate dowh! Siap kerat 4 lagi....

One of the days sebelum pergi mengajar , sempat lunch kat Saisaki Japanese Buffet kat UOAII , Jalan Pinang with my students.

Macam biasa....raw salmon for me.

Kali ni I cuba macam-macam food tapi all in small quantities except for the salmon sashimi.....yang tu kena ambil banyak & repeatedly....hehehe!

This I like.....the green tea ice-cream....even little Ashel likes it too! This was his 2nd serving.

Tiba-tiba teringin nak makan sardin. Aargghhh......masak sendiri sebab lauk sardin yang kat kedai selalunya tak menepati citarasa I. Mine has to be a little sweet. Tak lah manis sangat , very mild tapi mesti ada rasa manis.

My simple way of cooking it would be,,,,,,,tumis chopped garlic & a tea spoon of chili paste *sebab kalau pedas MP tak boleh makan pulak*. Then in goes the sardin tomato gravy + tomato sauce + crushed sweet cherry tomatoes. Salt & sugar to my liking at this point. Let it cook for while then add the sardines + sliced onions & spring onions. Very fast dah siap & boleh makan.

As another side dish....I made a sweet soy dip with cut bird's eye chilies + red onions & tomatoes.

Nak makan dengan telur mata! Best best makan nasi malam ni. Anak-anak pun layan menu simple ni.

Keropok lekor losong! Lama giler tak makan. Baru ni one of my students , Ain balik Trengganu. I kirim keropok losong ni. But nothing beats eating this keropok losong there and then! Memang layan....tapi pada yang suka laa....rupa dia bila tak goreng can be a turn-off to some people.

I kirim 3 bungkus. 2 for me & 1 for my parents. Dalam 1 bungkus selalunya ada 10 jalur keropok lekor tu......panjang more or less 1 kaki.

Since dibawa ke KL dari Trengganu , maka kena-lah dicelur balik semula sebelum makan.

Dalam tiap bungkus mesti akan ditapau-kan kuah cicah keropok lekor ni sekali.....I prepared both ways for my non-adventurous partner....hehehe! Kang dia tengok pelik , dia tak makan pulak. So , sebungkus I rebus & sebungkus lagi I goreng :-)

There was a day when I don't have work , pergi Giant Bukit Antarabangsa and beli bitter gourd in a pack. Dah siap dipotong-potong to bite size pieces. Saja sesekali nak makan yang pahit-pahit sikit. Masak cara I selalu buatlah....tumis bawang putih + chili paste....add the veggies and salt......stir fry sampai separa lembut then pecahkan telur....kacau sampai telur masak.

Nampak petai , beli.......kat rumah ada simpan sambal tempoyak *yessss.....petai & tempoyak again....hehehe!*. Goreng ayam sikit. Ayam ni pun beli kat Giant , dah siap marinate.

The very very simple lunch.

Marvelous enough!.....at least for me......*wink*

On one of the nites , I'm in the mood for some lamb.....but I want to accompany my lamb with some good homemade mash. Yna volunteered to mash the boiled potatoes.......good good good....

Super fast & easy Mash Potatoes......potatoes + butter + full cream milk + salt. I microwaved strips of beef bacon till it's crispy , roughly crush over the mash.

Tak kuasa lah nak start the barbie malam-malam ni , sorang pulak nak kelolakan arang and etc.....MALAS! So kuali jadi mangsa.....hehehe! I marinated my lamb using EVOO + honey + mustard + garlic & thyme. Pakai kuali pun , jadi jugak bah.....masak jugak.....

With the 'hangus-hangusan' yang tinggal kat dalam kuali tu , I added a bit of boiled water & boiled potatoes + broccoli + carrots + onions. Scraped off all the 'flavorings' that's left in the wok and mix it well with the veggies.

More lamb chops *wink* for me , MP , Yna & Ashel.....

This was lunch at Restoren Original Penang Kayu Nasi Kandar @ Ampang Jaya. We had lunch here before going to my studio. MP punya lah marah kat worker restoren ni sampai dia tak jadi makan! Why? Yna ambil nasi separuh + telur masin separuh + telur ikan goreng *ada lah dalam 4 ketul kecik-kecik* , without any gravy.....all for RM8.50!

Bila tanya breakdown , telur masin separuh ni cost RM1.50! Hohoho.....melampau.

Ni I punya. Nasi separuh + kuah campur + telur rebus sebiji + jelatah + telur ikan goreng *sama macam Yna* , cost RM9.

Dunno why lah.....bila tang nasi kandar je , harga mesti gila-gila. Food macam biasa , still kari or kurma. Kalau pun tak makan kepala ikan , ada choices ikan yang murah like kari ikan kembung,,,,,tapi harga masih cekik darah. Bukan tak boleh bayar , tapi felt like it was over charged lah.

A reminder for me......kena minimized makan kat nasi kandar restaurants.

    stuju,maybe chef MJ yg pertama bt beger bkr kn..

    syok tul kalu dpt lyn akak bt episod mkn2 nih...
    mahal nyer cost nasi kt rest ns kandar tu... mkn kt tmpt lain blh dpt 2pinggan

  3. dana - dalam business cam tuh lah , siapa cepat & smart....mudah buat duit walaupun main cedok idea orang lain. As for nasi kandar , macam phobia nak masuk kedai nasi kandar....harga melampau sangat!

    Nazalmal - awat yang dok kalut pasal jerat cina tu? dari hari tu lagi dok komen pasal jerat cina kat rumah lama saya.....tak pa , tak pa....insya'allah ada perancangan nak balik tepen dengan student2 vokal,,,,,nak tunjuk depa jerat cina tu. nanti saya post gambar , ye....
